Shanah Tovah to Moshe!

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

Moshe got back from Camp and went in for the “last” chemo. The doctors informed us that the protocol had been changed and we never knew so ……………………NO MORE CHEMO…………………..a CT scan had been booked for the day. What a dream. I thought the doctor was kidding. Moshe had the scan and ALL GONE. NOTHING! What a blessing! We have been so happy ever since….. Baruch Hashem the scan results showed that Moshe is clear. No more cancer. Bezrat Hashem never!

Moshe has been the bravest soldier during this very hard time of chemo chemo chemo. He was certainly looked after throughout this whole time because it could have been far worse. Moshe understood what had to be done and only gave very little uphill – like when the nurses wanted to take blood through his finger. Then squeeeeeze the finger for more. He has been blessed. We have a beautiful vibrant boy who has survived this ordeal. We have also been blessed with the most amazing support structure here in Joburg. Prayers, davening, tehillim – these certainly made the road for Moshe as it was. Hashem’s hand was seen throughout. Food was delivered daily for the first many months. Moshe was spoilt by friends and family – we now have a great dvd library, psp library and tape library. If you need just call Moshe. The enormous chesed made us feel unbelievable. I could go on and on…..

Celebrations have been ongoing – first with Camp Simcha which was THE MOST AWESOME time ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Moshe and Alon had the best time ever. Just look at the links to the pics in earlier posts.

Then Moshe had a SIMCHA TIME party at home with a jumping castle and a mechanical bull –hats and dress up (of course) – KIDS ONLY. The kids had a blast!

We are now making any excuse to celebrate.

We still pray for all those still undergoing treatments and having hard times with their chemo, etc. You are in our thoughts and we pray that you will ALL be well again soon. Amen.

Thanks again for all the support of all of you all the time. Moshe will be having a check up every 6 weeks and a scan every 3 months to start. Bezrat Hashem all will be good. We will keep you updated.

Thanks again.

Have a Shana Tovah – a year of blessings, peace, health and simcha.

With love,
Ezra, Jackie, Daniel, Benji, Moshe, Akiva and Levi

Camp Simcha here I come!

Friday, August 7th, 2009

B”H Hashem has been good to us. Moshe had his 2nd last chemo. Amazing. Let us pray for good health for everyone, and a refuah shleima for all. :-)

Moshe has been doing home schooling for the last few weeks. We are trying to keep him away from Mumps and all this flu. He is also getting ready for Camp Simcha in New York. Two weeks of the most fun ever with other kids whoa lso have cancer. 100 kids and 100 counsellors. Specialist oncologists to keep a close check on the kids and to give chemo to those who need. Doctors, Chefs who cater to whatever they desire. Camp Simcha is like 2 weeks of Purim. Moshe is going with Alon Friedman, his consellor from South Africa.

When Moshe comes back he will have his LAST chemo. What a ride… B”H all will be well.

Thanks to all of you for your care and support. This has been a huge year. Lfe’s experiences can make us happy or sad, laugh or cry, feel pain or joy. Let us share G-d willing in MANY simchas - to double the simcha -  and when we must share in sad painful times let the pain be halved over and over.

Thanks again for all your sharing and caring. Shabbat shalom!

Love,

Ezra, Jackie and the boys

Moshe’s Week - and Moshe’s Friends Who Need Prayers

Monday, August 11th, 2008

Hi again,

Thank you to all those who have been rallying around Moshe and our family - giving and caring in so many ways.Thank you to everyone for the davening, tehillim, special outings, visits, card swopping visits, afterschool lessons, hats, yarmulkas, games, activities, chocolate brownies, coloured
sprinkle biscuits, sweets, sabras, cakes, delicious dinners, shabbos treats, ….

This week Moshe begins with bloods and Chemo on Monday morning. Then off to radiotherapy at lunch time. The rest of the week he will bh be able to go to school (when he eventually wakes up) and then he leaves school just after midday for radiotherapy.

Moshe you are a shining child. Everyone cares about you. May your light radiate forever more and more. Continue entertaining us with your song and dance routines.

Please continue to daven for Moshe Yair ben Bayla Tanya for a complete recovery so that he will grow up to live a good life. Can we also daven for his friends:

  • Malki bat Raisel Nechama (Malki who is 11 years old was diagnosed in London 2 weeks after Moshe with exactly the same tumour in the exactly the same place in her nasal cavity)
  • Tal Eitan bat Sarah Rafaella (Tal is 8 years old and is also having Chemo at the Donald Gordon with Moshe)
  • Also Devorah Leah bat Michal ( Devorah Leah is a Mommy and also undergoing Chemo).

We wish you all strength.

Continue to do mitzvahs for our children, your children and all Hashem’s children. It is through this doing and giving in all kinds of ways that we can grow. Hashem helps us to grow in all kinds of ways. Just have faith.

May all our children grow up to live good lives - may they grow with Torah and may their children continue to be a credit to all of Israel.

Love,

Wednesday Night… and Good News!

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

Hi All,

It’s Wednesday night. Moshe is finishing this week’s heavy chemo at about midnight. He has done well although today he felt very nauseus. He is feeling better now and ate muffins dipped in milk.

The doctors gave us very good news yesterday. The results of the CT scan revealed that the small pieces of the malignant polyp that were left in the back of his nasal passage have with Hashem’s guidence melted away under the chemotherapy.

This was the first marker to evaluate the effectiveness of the chemo on Moshe’s condition. Thank God the chemo is working as was hoped and with the radiotherapy, the chemo and other treatments that follow, the doctors are hoping with Hashem’s help to cure the cancer and erase any chance of it returning.

We are ecstatic with this positive development and can only thank all of you for praying so hard and diligently for a refuah shleima for our Moshe.

This news strengthens our resolve and knowledge that it is through our prayers that Hashem is responding and giving a refuah shleima to Moshe.

Please continue to daven for our boy, Moshe Yair ben Beyla Tanya, for a refuah shleima as we can see that Hashem is listening to all of our prayers.

Thank you again.

Love
